Who Gets ‘Created By’ credit on a Television Series?

You see it all the time and the end of all the TV credits… “Created By”. Ever wonder how they decide who gets that credit?

According to the WGA and standard industry rules, the individual(s) who write the pilot episode automatically get “credited by” credit. It doesn’t matter who came up with the idea of the show, or whether it was based on an already existing piece of source material. This particular credit always goes to the writer(s) of the pilot.
